The Wildey Hammer

Twin guide lugs on either side of the hammer jutting up from the frame help position the slide as it glides back and forth on the frame's slide rails.   The white outline rear sight is fully adjustable for windage and elevation.   The frame's tang, beneath the hammer, is a large "beavertail" style to distribute recoil forces over a larger portion of the hand's web.  The grip has been sculped to reduce size making it user friendly to a larger segment of the shooting fraternity.
The Wildey Optics

The ribbed barrel has interchangeable front sight inserts and can be drilled and tapped for a scope mount.  USAFC offers a Scope Base, either factory installed or for installation by your gunsmith.  The reduced recoil because of our patented gas system and fixed barrel will further insure long range accuracy, particularly with the installation of a good quality scope.
The Wildey Barrels

Interchangeable barrel assemblies are available in the different lengths and/or calibers.  They fit the same frame.
Available barrel lengths include:
5" barrel
6" barrel
7" barrel
8" barrel
10" barre
12" barrel
14" barrel
Also the unique 18" barrel.

The Patented Wildey Gas Operating System

The Wildey Pistol features a patented gas operating system.  Six small holes in the barrel tap off gasses to power an air-hydraulic piston which pushes the slide rearward, ejecting the spent cartridge, and operate the rotary bolt.  A gas regulator (see photo above) is located on the barrel just in front of the piston. The regulator can be adjusted to regulate the flow of gas allowing the pistol to shoot everything from heavy hunting loads to light target loads.  This patented gas operated system greatly reduces the felt recoil.  And the gas regulator is easy to adjust.

"The Wildey can accommodate a variety of loads via a gas regulator located on the barrel in front of the piston.  By adjusting this regulator ring, the gun can be made to fire either light or heavy loads with the same degree of reliability.  Granted, it may take a few rounds to determine the proper setting, but as we found in the shooting evaluation, once the correct setting is made, the pistol is as surefire as most conventional autos we have tried."

The Wildey Trigger System

The WILDEY has a single action trigger system, the same as the Colt 1911, and either a round or square trigger guard available.
The .475 Wildey Magnum Cartridge

The Wildey pistol was introduced chambered in .45 Winchester Magnum.  This powerful 45 is basically a .45 ACP lengthened .300".  Both cases are the same .476" diameter.  To build an autoloading pistol that would fire bigger bullets a new case was needed.  The 30-06 case was no help.  True the .44 Auto Mag pistol was based on this case but case diameter is .470".  The .284 Winchester case caught Wil Moore's eye.  The .284 is a rebated rimless case.  The rim diameter is the same as the 30-06, .473" but the body of the case is wider with a max diameter of .500".   Perfect!  Wil cut down the .284 case to the maximum length of the .45 Winchester.  After inside neck sizing the case took a .475 diameter bullet.
Ballistic testing would prove Wildey J. Moore had developed the most powerful pistol cartridge.  Best of all his Wildey Pistol design was rugged enough to shoot this cartridge and the patented gas system would help the average shooter deal with recoil.
Today if you really cared to, you could convert .284 brass to .475 Wildey Magnum but the availability of commercial brass allows you to spend time on more enjoyable things like shooting this powerful cartridge, the .475 Wildey Magnum.
The WILDEY is made for handloaders!
With a three lug rotary bolt the Wildey easily handles high pressure loads and is capable of shooting a wide variety of bullet weights.  A handloader will enjoy this flexibility particularly if they currently load for a handgun with limited potential diversity.  The Wildey can be loaded down for an afternoon at the range shooting light, lower cost full metal jacket bullets.  And the Wildey can have a hunting load custom tailored for your hunting scenario.  Hawk Inc manufactures premium hunting bullets in .475 caliber for the Wildey pistol.  Their selection now boasts eight different bullets in flat point, hollow point, and weights of 230, 265, 300, and 350 grains.  Bullets are available directly from Hawk Inc and they will also make custom weights on request.
